Connotation vs. Denotation


Objectives:

  1. Use different types of verbs to complete/correct sentences.
  2. Identify facts and opinions used to support claim(s) in an informational article.
  3. Identify the connotation of words.

  1. Students will be able to write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.

Task List:
  1. Correct verb usage errors in sentences on the Smartboard.
  2. Notes over connotation and denotation.
  3. Compare facts and opinions from yesterday's article with a group.
  4. As a group, compile three facts and three opinions from the article; identify the connotation of five words from the article.
